In 2024 we became aware of a 1970 Bershkire organ that was going to be available at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Originally built for a practice room, it had been moved a number of times, most recently to the chapel in the former Newman Center. A new campus ministry department had been built in 2023 and an electric organ installed in the new chapel, so this organ was no longer needed or wanted by any other department on campus.
The instrument was in fairly good condition, but needed a good home and some restorative care. We were able to set up an exploratory visit with the music department at Assumption University, and they decided to take it for a practice room at the school. The organ was removed December of 2024 and will be fully restored and installed at Assumption University by the end of 2026.
