Schloming Residence, Cambridge

Facade

Our work on the Schloming Residence Flentrop organ project is a great example of our company's willingness to collaborate with colleagues in the pipe organ industry. This 6-rank tracker instrument was originally built in 1978 for Dutch organist Jacques van Oortmerssen. It was sold to the Scholmings at the end of 2021 and was shipped to the United States. Plenum Organ Company was hired to set it up in their Cambridge MA residence and the job was completed in a little under one day.

The instrument needed much additional work including repacking loose wood and metal stoppers, repairs to some cone-tuned pipes, and solutions to wind leaks between channels that were causing ciphers. Due to connections we have in the industry, we were able to refer the Schlomings to our colleagues at Andover Organ Company who were happily able to further aid in the restoration of the instrument.
